Ancora Imparo: The Beauty of Learning Through Healing

Ancora Imparo.”

A simple yet profound phrase by Michelangelo, meaning “Yet, I am learning.”

Isn’t it beautiful how these words, spoken centuries ago, still echo so deeply for those of us walking our own healing journey today?

Healing, like life, is not linear. It doesn’t follow a straight path or a timeline we can plan. Instead, it invites us to learn, unlearn, and relearn who we are—over and over again.

Each experience, no matter how gentle or jarring, uncovers a new layer of understanding within us. And in those discoveries, we are given the chance to soften, to love ourselves a little more deeply, to accept what is, and to embrace every transformation with grace.

Because life itself is the ultimate classroom.

We are evolving beings in an ever-evolving world. I was recently in a conversation with someone who works in the energy and gas industry, and we found ourselves reflecting on the rapid rise of artificial intelligence. What once lived only in the realm of science fiction is now woven into the fabric of our daily lives. It reminded me of how quickly things change—and how important it is that we allow ourselves the same permission to grow and evolve.

But here’s the truth: our minds are wired for familiarity. The known. The predictable. And that’s okay—it’s our brain’s way of keeping us safe. Yet growth asks something different of us. It invites us into the unknown. It nudges us gently (and sometimes not so gently) out of our comfort zones and into spaces where healing can truly begin.

The beautiful part? Neuroscience now tells us that our brains are capable of change. Of healing. Of creating new pathways, new patterns, and even new cells. That means we are never too old, too far gone, or too broken to begin again.

So what if we allowed ourselves a safe space—not just to hurt, but to heal?

Not just to survive, but to thrive?

What if we looked at every painful experience not as something to fear, but as something to learn from?

One thing I know for sure: the woman I am today is not the woman I was years ago. And I am grateful for that. Every heartbreak, every challenge, every uncertain season has shaped me. Some of those experiences left scars. Some brought tears. Some forced me to question who I was at my core. But through it all, I chose to keep learning. I chose to believe that there was still meaning, still purpose, still light in my journey.

If you’re in a season of healing right now—if the days feel heavy, if your heart feels tender—please know this:

You are not behind.

You are not broken.

You are becoming.

Allow yourself to breathe. To be seen. To be vulnerable. Because in that sacred space of vulnerability, you will find wisdom. You will find courage. You will find the strength to rise—not in spite of what you’ve been through, but because of it.

Let yourself be a student of life.

Let your healing be your teacher.

Let every lesson shape the woman you are meant to become.

After all, Ancora Imparo.

Yet, we are learning.

And what a beautiful journey that is.
